2016 Beauty Favourites & Fails

Hey beauties!

I'm rounding up my favourite products that I swore by in 2016 just for you. I'm also throwing in a few fails that I had the misfortune of wasting my money on so you don't have to :)

I'll get straight to it and start with my holy grail concealers of the year. I have a high end and a budget option that are both FAB. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer was a definite favourite of mine, so much so that mine has run out and I need to purchase another pronto. It's ok though because I'm currently using my second favourite which is the  Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and it's only €5.99! Sure where would you be going for that price? Straight down to Boots to buy a few more :)

Foundation last year was a tricky one for me. I fell back into a routine of using my Chanel Perfection Lumiere which is really nice. It has medium to full coverage with SPF 10.

The only thing I don't like is the smell! It's like it was thrown in a pile of old roses and then I ended up falling back on an oldie but a goodie, the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation. Always a winner really.

I did have an unpleasant experience with the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. What's magic about it I hear you ask? Well, it's a disaster on oily/combination skin which is who it is targeted for. TA DAH! Magic huh?! I really hated this and was so disappointed when I tried it. Now I did use this until it was gone, so I gave it a fair trial but it was everything I hate in a foundation. It became shiny in parts after a few hours wear and broke down on certain parts of the face even when set with, just no. A definite foundation fail and it wasn't cheap.  Sorry Charlotte! :(

A saving grace after that awful experience was that I found THE BEST eyeshadow palette in 2016. I'm not even exaggerating, this is no joke people! The Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette was my favourite thing of 2016 by far. To be honest it's my favourite eyeshadow palette of all time and you can see why here

On the negative side my least liked palette was the Morphe 35O. When it first arrived I was delighted. Warm browns, coppers, oranges, what's not to like? Well most of them fell out of the palette and broke the first time I used it so there was that. So I ended up taking the palette apart and transferring all the shadows into a Z palette.

I think if you were starting out in makeup the 35O would be ideal. It's cheap and cheerful and you get a lot of shadows for the price. HOWEVER they are hard to blend, there's a lot of fall out, they're patchy and they disappear from the eyes even with a primer after a few hours wear unless you really pack them on. Also there is the whole Morphe private labelling topic which you can decide for yourself on but I'm not going to get into that. That's a story for another day my friends! Going from using the Modern Renaissance to the 35O, there's just no comparison.

Lastly are some of my favourite nail polishes and stamping plates.  I think OPI will always be my go to polish. As you can see here I have one or two....

I did discover another brand that I totally fell in love with which was ILNP which stands for I Love Nail Polish. Cute right? They do the most amazing holographic polishes that are mesmerising!

The best stamping plates and polish I tried were from Moyou London. They have so many plates to choose from and a lot of colour varieties for their stamping polish. A great company to check out if your a nail fanatic like myself.

Well that's it. What were your favourite products of 2016? Anything you regret buying? Let me know in the comments!

Bye beauties!
