Hyped Up Palettes - Are They Worth It?

I know I haven't blogged in such a long time but I really wanted to write this post and get your opinions.  

Tonight Too Faced restocked the long awaited Sweet Peach palette on www.toofaced.com. If you haven't heard about this palette it's basically an eyeshadow palette with 18 shades of peachy Spring Summer goodness and it smells like peaches, YES peaches!

When Too Faced founder Jerrod Blandino teased us back at the start of December with sneak peaks of the palette on his Instagram page, everyone went WILD. it originally launched on March 17th (St. Patrick's day) and was sold out in no time. So naturally there were a lot of people who were eagerly awaiting the restock so they could get their hands on it, me being one of them.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of what happened I'll give you a bit of backstory. The Sweet Peach palette was sent out to popular YouTube personalities and well known beauty bloggers a few months  ago in anticipation of its launch in March. These influencers have literally MILLIONS of followers between them so as you can imagine there was a lot of hype surrounding this particular palette. When it came to the day of the launch a lot of people were left disappointed and empty handed as the palette was sold out in a flash. What I just don't understand is why they would launch a product with limited quantities and make it available for purchase knowing that many people would be left disappointed? In a nutshell the palette was sold out in record time with many people not even gaining access to the site at all leaving some very unhappy campers taking to Twitter and Instagram to voice their concerns.

But rejoice! Too Faced announced a restock this evening! Hallelujah! Em....nope. The site crashed within seconds of the announcement leaving beauty lovers stranded on an error message page saying 'BRB'.

 Many that did eventually manage to gain entry found themselves looking at this unfortunate message: 


This seems to be a recurring theme for many different makeup brands lately with the likes of  Makeup Geek CosmeticsMorphe and Violet Voss (just to name a few) all launching 'hyped up products' with limited quantities only to find their websites crashing under the volume of traffic with people trying to gain access. Who had the struggle of trying to purchase the 35O palette from Morphe? Or the Holy Grail palette from Violet Voss? Manny Mua palette anyone? 

I love the launch of new products as much as the next beauty blogger but it just seems that there are so many 'must haves palettes' these days that it leaves me wondering, are they really even that good? Is all this hassle worth the hype?
