Sister Jane Love 💜

Hey guys!

Are you excited for the Cork Jazz weekend?? I myself am looking forward to a jazzy boozy brunch in the Bodega on Sunday :)

I thought I'd share one of my FAVOURITE clothing brands with you today. When I first came across Sister Jane I immediately fell in love with their style of clothing. Its like they made all of their clothes just for me! Embellished collars, quirky patterns and gorgeous fabrics are staples which the brand are known for.

I've rounded up a few of my best picks from their line at the moment, all of which are perfect for Autumn/Winter. Here are a few of the dresses which caught my eye.

Looking Glass Sequin Dress - picture from

The Looking Glass Sequin Dress retails for €88. This is in fact a dress even though it looks like a blouse and skirt. Best part? The skirt is sequined!

Wide-eyed Tunic Dress - picture from

The Wide-eyed Tunic Dress retails for €72. This one looks SO comfortable and who can resist a star print?

New Romantics Tweed Dress - picture from

This dress is probably my favourite one! It has some serious Chanel vibes going on :) The New Romantics Tweed Dress retails for €84.

Mademoiselle Satin Bow Dress - picture from

This is the Mademoiselle Satin Bow Dress and yes, it looks like a stylish old fashioned french maidens dress but it is gorgeous! This one retails for €77.

Next up are some tops and skirts which are just so pretty.

Smokestacks Lace Blouse - picture from

Look at this blouse. Look! This is the Smokestakes Lace Blouse and it is currently on sale for €26. Absolutely stunning.

Majorica Knit Top with Corduroy Comeback skirt - picture from

The Majorica Knit Top looks fab with the Corduroy Comeback Skirt. The top retails for €53 and the skirt is €54. I love this combination, elegant yet youthful.

I might as well show you my own personal favourite Sister Jane item that I own while I'm here. This dress is no longer available unfortunately as I have it a while now. Apologies for the awkward pose, I'm a bit shy when it comes to mirror selfies!

I hope you enjoyed getting a peak at the world of Sister Jane. Have you come across this brand before and if so what did you buy? Leave me your comments below and let me know. Sister Jane is available from ASOS and of course

Bye beauties!

Kylie Lip Kit Inspired Nail Art

Hey guys!

Happy hump day! Today I have some nail art for you because it's been a while :)

I was looking at
Kylie Cosmetics last night and while I was debating on whether or not to place an order, I was inspired to do some nail art instead.

The nude shades of Kylie Jenner's
lip kits like MalibooDolce K and Candy K are really pretty and the packaging is very cool so I decided to recreate it on my nails! As a base I used two coats of Models Own polish in Nude Beige. For the paint drips I used OPI Lady In Black on a dotting tool (you can also use a bobby pin or toothpick to achieve this look). I used a glossy top coat but a matte one would look pretty awesome too.

On another note, have any of you tried the Kylie lip kits? Are they worth the money or should I stick to my
ColourPop and Kat Von D??

Bye beauties!!

Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette Review

Hey guys!

I hope your Friday is going well. Its nearly the weekend, can you taste the freedom? I have some good news for you! The Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette from Too Faced is BACK IN STOCK! :)

This palette was actually released earlier in the year. I got my paws on it back in March but it was limited edition so I never reviewed it as it was sold out. Lucky for you it's now available again so let's see if it's any good shall we?

First off the packaging is super cute. I mean come on, there's a tiny piece of bread with a face covered in PB and J for gods sake! It has the same plastic covering as the Chocolate Bar palettes if your familiar with those so it's pretty sturdy and travel friendly. Now this is claimed to have a peanut butter scent but I'm going to be honest and say to me this smells THE EXACT SAME as the chocolate bar palette........! I may be nose blind but I can't tell the difference between the two. Anybody else had a sniff and thought the same?

The colours are all very warm so if your someone who likes cool shades this won't be for you. At first glance the shades all look a bit similar but you can actually create some very nice looks. The only thing I will say is that it is definitely missing a proper dark shadow. Something you could line your eyes with if you weren't feeling the effort of liner or wanted to vamp things up a notch. You will see from the swatches below the purple shades just aren't that spectacular. Boo-urns :(

The neutral shades are nice and pigmented. Extra Creamy is a great matte base colour and Spread The Love reminds me of Makeup Geek peach smoothie with a teeny hint of sparkle. Bananas is a nice all over lid shade if your looking for something quick and easy in the mornings.

The next few shades are all of the peanut butter variety. Peanut Butter was actually first released with the Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette and was so popular that Too Faced decided to dedicate a full on palette to this shade. It's a warm rich orangey matte brown, great in the crease or all over the lid. Peanut Butter Cup is a slightly cooler toned darker brown with gold shimmer through it. My favourite, Peanut Brittle, is a rusty bronze brown with shimmer. This one is stunning and the most pigmented shade in the palette.

Let's talk about the duds of the palette which are the two purple shadows. Jammin, which looks very dark in the pan just does not play nice. It's patchy and hard to blend. It looks more brown than an eggplant purple and the pigment just isn't there. You can make it work but with a lot more effort than I'd like to be honest. Jelly is meant to be the pop of colour in the palette. Too Faced normally include at least one brighter colour in their palettes. This looks AMAZING in the pan but like Jammin, when you go to apply it the pigment isn't there and it's just meh. You can see from the swatch it looks like more of a wash of purple with a slight sheen rather than an in your face shocking purple. All is not lost though, Nuts About U is another favourite of mine. There's just something about these colours that just get me :) Matte rusty browns to the rescue!

So all in all this palette is nice but it's nothing groundbreaking. If your someone who is Too Faced obsessed, loves their warm palettes and likes collectors items, go for it. For everyone else I'd give this one a miss.

Let me know if you've tried this palette and your thoughts, especially about the smell! Am I crazy? :)

Bye beauties!

Back To MAC Goodies!

Hey guys!

Is there anything better than FREE makeup? :)

I recently brought back all of my MAC empties to Brown Thomas in Cork. I have been meaning to do this for a few months but just never got around to it so I finally got them all together and had a little free makeup spree for myself.

For those of you who aren't aware of MAC's Back To Mac Programme, start saving all your empty and used MAC products ASAP! If you bring 6 empty containers back to MAC you receive your choice of either a regular lipstick (this does not include MAC Viva Glam or any limited edition lipsticks), regular eyeshadow or lipglass. Now unfortunately in Cork you only have the choice of the lipstick but to be honest I don't really like the formula of the lipglass, they're too sticky for me and I don't really use MAC eyeshadows anymore so for me its a win win.

I did have 36 empty products so I was able to get 6 free lipsticks. Yes I know thats a lot of products but remember I have been saving these for a long time now and the last time I brought products back to MAC was in 2012 so don't worry, I'm not splashing out on new MAC products every week!

So what lipsticks did I choose?

I wanted mostly tones that I would get a lot of wear out of and one or two for when I'm feeling fancy. You'll notice a theme going on here but honestly, these are my go to colours :) I promise they're all different!

I'll start with the palest colours I chose which are Peach Blossom and Creme Cup. These are the perfect nude shades.

Peach Blossom
Peach Blossom is a cremesheen which is my favourite formula of MAC lipstick. It's a cool nude peachy pink with a very slight shimmer which gives a lovely glossy look to the lips.

Creme Cup is also a cremesheen but slightly warmer than Peach Blossom with more nude tones.

Creme Cup
Here are both swatched together so you can see the comparison, in the bullets they look almost identical. Shout out to everyone who's been told they have 20 of the same lipstick colour but really they're all different! :)

Next up are Twig and Velvet Teddy. You have probably heard of these shades before as they are two of Kylie Jenners favourite MAC lipsticks and were all over social media last year.

Velvet Teddy is a a beige brown. This is a matte so can be a little drying on the lips but fine if you moisturise beforehand.

Velvet Teddy
Twig is a brownish redish pink and has a satin formula. It is darker than Velvet Teddy but only slightly.

These would be for when I'm feeling like I want to look a bit more 'done' if that makes sense. These are also perfect colours for the Fall (my favourite time of year and it's here at least, hurrah!). From the swatches below it looks like Velvet Teddy has a sheen but it's just the way the sun is hitting the skin.

Finally we have the two darkest colours Captive and Diva. I would wear these shades very rarely, maybe only on a night out.

Captive is a satin lipstick which is a gorgeous pinky plum shade. This one does stain the lips so be prepared to wear it for a little longer than the rest.

Diva is a matte dark burgundy red and is divine! Again be prepared for staining but thats to be expected with darker red/purple shades.

As you can see from the swatches Captive and Diva are actually a bit lighter in colour than you would expect when you look at them in their bullets. These colours are gorgeous for winter especially for a party or new years eve.

I've done a swatch of all colours together so you can get a more realistic comparison. Sometimes it's hard to judge when your comparing colours that are very similar.

From top to bottom we have: Peach Blossom, Creme Cup, Velvet Teddy. Twig, Captive & Diva
So there you have it, hopefully this was helpful if your trying to decide on a new lipstick purchase. Or even better, if you have some empties to bring back to MAC for some free ones :)

What are your favourites from these shades or do you own any yourself?  Let me know on the comments below.

Bye beauties!

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Modern Renaissance Palette Review

Hey guys!

See  I told you I'd be back :)

Today I have the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette to share with you.

I had seen little teasers of this on the ABH Instagram page in the days leading up to its release but once I saw the swatches I was pretty much sold. There was no hope for me really!

I just want to start off by saying that ABH handled the launch of this palette really well. There was no media hype for months beforehand and they had plenty of stock so everyone was able to purchase one. Also this is a permanent item so its not going anywhere folks! I contacted customer service through their website as I wanted to find out when the package would be due to arrive and they were so helpful. They responded immediately to my query and were an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Needless to say once this bad boy arrived I was dying to try it out. I had only owned one ABH single eyeshadow prior to buying this (Truffle Glitter, which by the way is amazing!) and one ABH Palette (The Self Made Palette which was limited edition) so I was interested to see if the quality of this palette was the same.

Lets have a closer look shall we?

Overall there are 14 shadows in the palette, 13 are matte, 1 is a satin finish and there are 2 metallic shades. I think this is a pretty good mix, nobody wants a palette full of metallic shimmery shades right?

The packaging is pretty simple. Its a lovely soft light pinky felt which reminds me of the original Urban Decay Naked One palette only it feels much nicer. The inside is a sturdy cardboard and it also includes a nice mirror which is handy if you take it travelling.

The brush which comes with it is the same brush as the one which came with the Self Made palette so now I have two :) I don't love these brushes but they are useful when travelling. I don't tend to reach for them otherwise.

The eyeshadows themselves are out of this world. They are even better than, dare I say it, Makeup Geek...! They are very pigmented and easy to blend. Every colour shows up on my skin which is saying something as a lot of pale colours just don't show up on my pasty face.

I have to say I'm pretty biased towards this palette as I LOVE warm shades, especially red brick colours. I do think that there are a lot of looks that can be done using this palette, from subtle daytime looks to crazy vibrant in your face looks. Here is one of the looks I did which is something in between.

Foundation: Chanel Perfection Lumiére
Bronzer: Nars Laguna
Highlight: ABH Contour Palette in Vanilla
Powder: Nars All Day Luminous Power in Siberia
Lips: Violet Voss Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick

Modern Renaissance Eyshadows:
All Over Base: Tempera
Transition Crease: Buon Fresco
Lid Base: Red Ochre
Outer V and Crease: Venetian Red & Love Letter mixed
Centre Lid & Inner Corners: Primavera & Vermeer mixed
Liner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex
All in all I ADORE this palette. The only downside was the fact that because I was impatient and ordered direct from the ABH site I was charged customs by UPS on delivery. Now the palette is retailing at $42 and the shipping was $17.95 (yes I know I can't believe I paid that either!) so in total it was $59.95. This worked out at roughly €53 at the time of purchase. So to be charged €26.95 customs on a palette that was worth €37 was absolutely disgraceful! Unfortunately there is no option to pick different couriers while checking out so there was no way to avoid this really. If I had waited until Beauty Bay were stocking the palette I would have had free delivery......lesson learned! On the plus side the shipping was super fast. I ordered on a Thursday night and I had it in my hands on the Monday afternoon!

Do you think this is a palette you would be interested in? Or have you already purchased it?

Let me know in the comments below!

Hyped Up Palettes - Are They Worth It?

Hey guys!

I know I haven't blogged in such a long time but I really wanted to write this post and get your opinions.

Tonight Too Faced restocked the long awaited Sweet Peach palette on If you haven't heard about this palette it's basically an eyeshadow palette with 18 shades of peachy Spring Summer goodness and it smells like peaches, YES peaches!

Picture courtesy of Too Faced Instagram

When Too Faced founder Jerrod Blandino teased us back at the start of December with sneak peaks of the palette on his Instagram page, everyone went WILD. it originally launched on March 17th (St. Patrick's day) and was sold out in no time. So naturally there were a lot of people who were eagerly awaiting the restock so they could get their hands on it, me being one of them.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of what happened I'll give you a bit of backstory. The Sweet Peach palette was sent out to popular YouTube personalities and well known beauty bloggers a few months  ago in anticipation of its launch in March. These influencers have literally MILLIONS of followers between them so as you can imagine there was a lot of hype surrounding this particular palette. When it came to the day of the launch a lot of people were left disappointed and empty handed as the palette was sold out in a flash. What I just don't understand is why they would launch a product with limited quantities and make it available for purchase knowing that many people would be left disappointed? In a nutshell the palette was sold out in record time with many people not even gaining access to the site at all leaving some very unhappy campers taking to Twitter and Instagram to voice their concerns.

But rejoice! Too Faced announced a restock this evening! Hallelujah! Em....nope. The site crashed within seconds of the announcement leaving beauty lovers stranded on an error message page saying 'BRB'.

Many that did eventually manage to gain entry found themselves looking at this unfortunate message:

This seems to be a recurring theme for many different makeup brands lately with the likes of  Makeup Geek CosmeticsMorphe and Violet Voss (just to name a few) all launching 'hyped up products' with limited quantities only to find their websites crashing under the volume of traffic with people trying to gain access. Who had the struggle of trying to purchase the 35O palette from Morphe? Or the Holy Grail palette from Violet Voss? Manny Mua palette anyone?

I love the launch of new products as much as the next beauty blogger but it just seems that there are so many 'must haves palettes' these days that it leaves me wondering, are they really even that good? Is all this hassle worth the hype?

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Bye beauties!
