Manicure Monday: Maybelline Color Show 'Chalk Dust'

Hey Guys!

Hope everyone had a great weekend :)

Today for Manicure Monday I have on Maybelline 'Chalk Dust'.
It's a really pretty polish with black and white glitter in a clear base. The glitter are all different sizes and range from circular to hexagonal which is great for layering.

'Chalk Dust' is part of the Polka Dots collection from Maybelline which have been available for a few months now. I have these in three different colours. The currently retail in Boots for €4.49.

I decided to paint this over OPI 'Alpine Snow' but really you could use any colour and it would look gorgeous. As I painted this over a white base the white parts of the polish can't be seen. I only used one layer for the photo above. I've tried it over a black polish also and it does look great however you can only see the white parts which gives a cool effect.

This polish actually reminds me of television static, which is probably what drew me to it in the first place!

Remember when you were younger having a sleepover with friends and everybody would fall asleep and leave the TV on? When you woke up in the middle of the night all that would be on the screen would be the static. It used to freak me out all the time! It reminds me of Poltergeist when the little girl is in front of the TV and the spirit is trying to come out!

Anyway hope everyone is having a great Monday so far!

Manicure Monday: Essie 'Who Is The Boss?'

Hey guys!

Sorry this Manicure Monday is so late! I was at a concert and was running late beforehand so didn't get a chance to post. I saw Regina Spektor and she was just amazing! Mind blowing! Probably the best concert I have ever been at......and she is the sweetest ever.....

Anyways today I'm wearing Essie 'Who Is The Boss?' which is a blue grey creme. This was part of the bridal collection last year or the year before I believe.

Nothing too exciting but a nice colour all the same. I was going for an understated look today after last weeks neon goodness :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Manicure Monday: China Glaze 'Neon and On and On'

Hey Guys!

I've decided to start doing Manicure Mondays from now on. I paint my nails so often that it just makes sense really. So every Monday expect a new nail post. Hurrah for nail polish! :)

Today I have on China Glaze 'Neon & On & On'.

It's the most perfect neon bubblegum pink. Super bright and probably the most girlie polish I have ever seen!

Photo taken in daylight with no flash

The pictures aren't really doing the neon any justice but trust me, in person this is INSANE.

Taken with flash in the shade

Did I mention it's neon? :)

I decided to do a cute accent nail of sprinkle pink glitter that changes colour when the light hits it. The glitter is dry pink hexagonal nail glitter that I got from Topshop on Oxford Street in London.

As you can see from the pictures even in the shade this is bright. I'm in love.....

Whats your favourite neon polish for summer?
I have a few more neon polishes (mostly from China Glaze) to show you over the coming Mondays so be prepared :)

Splatter Nails

Hey everyone!

I decided I wanted to do something a bit more creative than just a regular manicure so I had fun trying out splatter nails for the first time.

Now before you decide to try this a word of warning: it's messy. Very very messy!

To make clean up a bit easier put down some old newspaper onto the area you'll be working on. Have some Sellotape and nail polish remover at the ready.

Paint two coats of your chosen base colour. I picked 'Snapdragon' by Seche. Once the polish is semi dry, take your Sellotape and place it around your cuticle and underneath your nail, it makes clean up later on much less effort.

Now for the fun part! Splatter time! Dip a thick straw (like the ones from Starbucks) into your first splatter colour and simply blow through the clean end of the straw onto your nail. You can do as many colours as you like. I ended up doing four altogether. Lastly seal everything in with a glossy top coat.

When your done remove the tape and clean up anything that the tape didn't manage to protect. Simple!

Here's the finished result!

Pretty cool if I do say so myself :)

Let me know if you've tried this method and how the nails turned out.

Colours used:
Seche 'Snapdragon'
Barry M 'Guava'
Barry M Limited Edition Green Polish
Illamasqua 'Rare'
OPI 'Vant To Bite My Neck?'
